CONFESSIONS OF THE CROWD


It is time to say something, we can not wait more time. 
We need to talk about what we see that they, the day, 2nd May 1808.



It was in the morning when a crowd from Madrid arrived in front of the Royal Palace. The crowd was suspecting of the intentions of the French Army: the want to kidnap the Infant Francisco de Paula (the small kid of Charles IV and Maria Luisa de Parma)

Charles IV was forced to abdicate in favour of Ferdinand VII. Both were obligated to go to Bayonne to meet with Napoleon, when the historic fact of the abdications of Bayonne took place.

Apart from that, Jose Blas de Molina, a locksmith, decided to do an heroic act. He hid in the building to know what was happening as well as where and how was the Infant. After some time the shout of Molina saying “Treason! They are going to take him!”. The immediate reaction was the assault.
This revelation is taken in advantage of  by Joachim Murat, which send the Imperial Guard to the Palace, also with artillery, that fire against the crowd.

It was not only to prevent the departure of the Infant, but also get rid of the French people. With this feelings, the fight spread in all Madrid. This way was how a spontaneous popular uprising started  by the crowd from Madrid.

He was one of Napoleon's most celebrated Marshalls and King of Naples.

      He was the one who save the life  of the Infant in that day, 2nd of May.

-                 This character was the one who involuntarily provoke the uprising in Madrid, the 2nd May 1808.

          It was the entrance of this infant, still a child, in a float situated in front of the Royal Palace because they had to go to Bayona, when someone started to shout : “they are going to take him!” the climax to the popular explosion against the French army.
